Grown Rogue is a seed-to-experience cannabis brand passionate about the environment, community, and education. We operate all facets of our business with principles of transparency and integrity. Our products are always organic meeting Clean Green Certification and our approach to classifying the experience of cannabis is rooted in science. We combine 50 years of cultivation knowledge with a diverse private sector background to bring you a fully integrated cannabis company offering top-shelf flower and extracts, business services for our peers, and education.

Founder's Vision

The genesis of Grown Rogue came about over a decade ago when we began cultivating cannabis under the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program. What started as a hobby evolved into a passion to help local Oregonians who were beginning to turn the tide from traditional pharmaceutical products to cannabis. From cancer to glaucoma, veterans to grandmothers, we saw the potential of this plant to bring people together in common goals and to create better, healthier lifestyles.


We met in early 2000 while both playing collegiate basketball and quickly realized we shared common goals with regards to ambition, drive, dedication, and trust which has not only carried us through our now 15-year marriage but is also the backbone of Grown Rogue’s culture which is built on family values, community, and respect. As we realized the need in Oregon for superior quality cannabis products, we expanded our medical operation to provide quality medicine to over 50 patients in Oregon. With the onset of legalization there was no question in either of our minds to apply our business principles and cultivation experience to provide premium cannabis products to the entire Oregon community and beyond.– Obie and Sarah Strickler

Obie Strickler

Chief Executive Officer

Grown Rogue is led by Obie Strickler, founder and CEO with a BS in Geology from Southern Oregon University. Obie has over 15 years of cannabis experience where he organically scaled his first medical garden in 2006 from a 15 plant single facility to 200 plants and 4 facilities. Obie founded GR in 2016 to capitalize on the opportunity to grab market share in this burgeoning recreational cannabis space. In addition to his cannabis expertise, Obie brings a diverse private sector background that includes running the Oregon division of regional environmental consulting company, founding a firm to provide full management services for multi-billion dollar natural resource projects, and co-founding a hyper-velocity impact technology company.

Jacques Habra

Chief Strategy Officer

Jacques Habra is an award-winning serial entrepreneur recognized by national and regional media for excellence in entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation. Jacques was the lead investor in FirstClick, SelfEcho, TrackR which recently won $50MM in Series B funding through the Amazon Alexa Fund. Jacques led early-stage fundraising for Grown Rogue and as Chief Strategy Officer he focuses on brand creation/development, management, and marketplace strategy. Jacques graduated with degrees in Philosophy and English from the University of Michigan with Honors.

Mike Johnston

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Johnston is a graduate of Western University, and joined Forbes Andersen LLP, Chartered Professional Accountants in 2004 and became a partner in 2012. Mr. Johnston has over 10 years of experience with both private and public companies in various capacities, including that of Chief Financial Officer. 

Adam August

VP of Finance

Adam serves as the Financial leader for Grown Rogue. He previously spent over 15 years at Harry & David, a vertically-integrated multi-channel specialty food retailer where he held multiple roles with increasing levels of responsibility, ultimately serving as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Treasurer. Adam graduated with honors from Whitman College with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He also graduated at the top of his class when earning his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Oregon.

Rob Rigg

VP of Marketing

Rob Rigg is an entrepreneurial modern marketing leader with a broad range of experience having worked with both start ups and Fortune 500 companies to propel growth by focusing on empowering and inspiring consumers. Rob joins Grown Rogue with over a decade of leadership in brand and product marketing, digital and social media management, strategic planning and consumer insights. He started his career with Goldman Sachs, before moving into the passion sports world where he founded and launched the innovative golf footwear company TRUE linkswear, and held various marketing and business leadership roles at Nike, TaylorMade, and Cannondale. Rob graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hamilton College.

Sarah Strickler

Director of Community Relations

Sarah is the co-founder of Grown Rogue with a BS in Communications that was started at the University of Hawaii where she was an NCAA Division I athlete (basketball). Sarah is a former Licensed Massage Therapist and Project Manager for a real estate development company. Sarah’s focus with Grown Rogue is in community outreach and brand management. Her deep seeded roots in the Southern Oregon community resulted in Grown Rogue securing their 17,000 square foot warehouse and fostering many of the relationships with local professionals and community members that have helped Grown Rogue become the company it is today.

Sarah is also a devoted wife and enjoys running marathons, mountain biking, and anything outdoor related. She is adventurous and loves to live her life in a passionate and meaningful way.

Senior Advisors

Abhilash Patel

A serial entrepreneur, venture investor, speaker, and philanthropist. He is currently Founder & Principal at Lotus Capital, an early-stage investment fund in Santa Monica, CA. He is on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations in Southern California, including the Los Angeles Food Bank, Junior Achievement of Southern California, and 10,000 Beds . Previously Abhilash was founder and CEO at Ranklab, a digital marketing agency listed in Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing private companies in 2015, and Co-founder at Recovery Brands, a digital publishing company based in San Diego, CA. In 2015 both companies were acquired by AAC, Holdings Inc. and Abhilash remained in an active leadership position at both companies until his exit in late 2016. Abhilash holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy from Columbia University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles’ Anderson School of Management.

Buck Jordan

Founder of the early stage venture funds “FUTURE” and “Canyon Creek Capital”, Buck Jordan is a technologist focused on investing in transformative businesses disrupting massive markets and solving hard world problems through technology. He has collectively invested in over 50 Companies and his fund is currently performing in the top quartile of venture funds. Prior to starting Canyon Creek, he founded a fintech company in the commercial lending space, was a management consultant and worked in Senator Arlen Specter’s office. He is an advisor to several start-ups in the Los Angeles community, received his MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and is a former Army Captain and Blackhawk Pilot.

Stephen Gledhill

Stephen Gledhill is a seasoned executive leader with over 25 years of C-suite and senior management experience. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Mr. Gledhill has built his career on his meritorious and professional conduct and his experiences encompass both the corporate and entrepreneurial sectors. He has been a successful business executive, entrepreneur, partner and trusted advisor.


Outdoor Grow

Our outdoor properties are nestled in two distinct locations in the world famous Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. The diverse micro-climates coupled with our team’s 50 years of cultivation results in the most consistent, highest quality product available. Our clean-green certification and phylos certification provides assurance to the consumer and our dispensary partners that our product was Grown Rogue.

Manzanita Glen

Situated in a wide open valley just outside of Grants Pass, this farm is a true cannabis gardeners’ dream. Constructed by our team in 2015, it embodies all of the learnings from years of operations. Constructed with individual cedar beds, this garden is nestled between groves of manzanitas and madrones with fantastic south facing sun angles, this property produces some of the largest and most potent strains in our portfolio. With rows of terraced hitting hillside sitting below a large pad, these rows of cannabis plants have all the space, nutrients, water, and sun to be one of our showcase gardens.

Trails End

Situated in the northern portion of Jackson County, Trails End was the first garden built by Grown Rogue management under the Oregon Medical Marijuana program. With natural spring water providing the source of water and nestled in the towering pines and cedars of Southern Oregon, this garden is typified by long continuous beds terraced on the southwestern sloping hillside that contains more than 500 yards of premium, mature soil. Catching the late afternoon sun’s rays until they disappear over the horizon results in wonderful aromas and vibrant colors of the Grown Rogue strains produced.

Indoor Grow

Grown Rogue’s state of the art 17,000 square foot grow facility ensures our customers can achieve the Right Experience, Every Time -all year long. In this well-engineered facility, we control all aspects of the climate to maximize the number of healthy harvests. The indoor grow environment provides stability and optimal conditions for ideal growth with none of the challenges and risks of Mother Nature. The net result for Grown Rogue are stunning flowers with calculated Terpene and THC levels.

Our approach to classifying the cannabis experience is rooted in science. With more studies being released by the scientific community, sharing the importance and value of medical marijuana is imperative.

Scientific studies have shown that cannabis can work for a variety of conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and chronic pain. Thus, we not only believe in cannabis’s potential to create a better and healthier life, but it’s ability to save lives, as well.

From mild to severe medical conditions, we believe cannabis can save lives in three ways: increasing relaxation and relieving pain, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and improving cognitive function.

Increases Relaxation and Relieves Pain

Cannabis is known to be a fantastic muscle relaxant and when the body relaxes, the brain follows.  When our bodies experience pain or stress, our bodies release endocannabinoids which help calm the body.  Cannabis contains cannabinoids, which look and act the same as the cannabinoids that our bodies make. This makes them excellent for attaching to cannabinoid receptors—relaxing the mind and body one receptor at a time.

There are many benefits to a relaxed mind and body, such as a reduction in inflammatory response, stress, and pain. And while science isn’t clear on how cannabis works to prevent and treat known diseases, many studies have found its relaxation properties to aid in reducing symptoms. Below is a list of conditions cannabis has been proven to help:

Reduces Depression & Anxiety

Traumatic events in our lives can leave us feeling anxious and depressed. But does cannabis improve symptoms of anxiety or depression? Or does it make it worse? Studies of cannabis have shown that cannabis can positively affect depression and anxiety. In a study done by Washington State University, which collected data from thousands of medical marijuana users found that depression symptoms were reduced in 89.3% of smoking sessions and anxiety was reduced in 93.5% of smoking sessions.

As we can see, cannabis is having a positive effect on depression and anxiety within users. Below are three examples of mental health issues that cannabis has been proven to help:

Contrary to the “stoner” stereotype, Cannabis has been shown to have many positive cognitive effects. While short-term memory is temporarily stifled while high, creativity actually gets boosted. Researchers have found that participants in a study had better “verbal fluency” and could come up with different words when high.

This boost in creativity might be due to increase dopamine in the brain, which lowers inhibition and allows people to perceive things differently. Below, we can see cases of cannabis’s positive effects on conditions like Alzheimers, strokes, and brain injury—bolstering its case in its ability to heal the brain.
